I have been with Orcon fibre for 7 years but am now moving house. Noticed they had a moving house option to take all the hassle out of it. Naively I thought that would mean just transferring me to the new place that already had an ONT, on the same terms as I am on now.

Oh, no. You have to sign up, as a new customer would, and go on a 12 month contract to boot.

In addition, to duplicate my current account features would cost me another $14.55/month.

As a current customer you can't take advantage of the Glimp offers but you are treated as a new customer for a move. Gotcha.

OK, I have options, especially as I pay for Netflix now. Could save $396/yr and get my Rugby pass refunded! Seems a no brainer.

Probably a moral here. If you really want to keep your customers, don't ask them to look around!

But don't get me wrong, this may sound like a whinge, but I understand that Orcon must have their reasons for making a 'move' not so straightforward as they promoted it. Just call me disappointed!!

that doesn't sound right, most providers will just transfer your address and allow you to keep the same pla you were on.

To be fair, I have a PM from Matte offering a solution.
