Hi

 

Is there any reason 2 Degrees do not allow you to use internet banking for home broadband but allow it for mobiles as a payment option.?

 

We are not keen on allowing an authority over our account due to a previous company taking money and then you have to fight them to get your money back

I've always made my broadband monthly payments through internet transfer although not sure if it's an 'official' method.

 

 

 

I've PM'd you the details if you want to give it a shot.

 

 

 

EDIT: Ok, details are actually on their website: https://help.2degreesmobile.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/217/kw/internet%20banking . Rules may be different for mandatory having to set up a CCA / DDA for a new sign up but you don't mention sign up in your post.

You can use internet banking to pay before bill is due, maybe get a credit card to set up payment and do it with a bank that lets you block the card so they can only take money if you unblock the card?

Could also try a Prezzy Card with limited funds. I don’t know if it would work, but in theory it should.

I set up with credit card and use internet banking to pay (before bill due) to avoid the credit card surcharge, no problems so far.

Have they told you that you need a CCA/DDA setup on your account? That’s done sometimes depending on credit history. Definitely possible to do manual bank transfer payments.

i have the same sentiments... harder to get money back from a billing error.

 

actually, when i moved the family to a pool plan (mobile), i was told explicitly that it's a requirement to have direct debit authorised.

 

applying for broadband recently, it appears that the only choices are CC/DD.

I am also with 2 Degrees and find their billing systems overly aggressive. I always pay before their due date so the auto payment doesnt kick in, as if it does they charge you a fee for credit/debit card transfer.

How far in advance do they send out the bill before taking the money ( Saw two days mentioned )

 

if I come across any issues I will cancel the direct payment directly with he bank

Have you tried to give them a call? I got them to remove the payment details I'd put in. I just pay by internet banking.

My broadband bill is emailed weeks before they do the direct debit.  The current one was emailed on 23/7/2019 and comes out of my account on 17/8/2019.

I got my bill today 13th, it's due for payment the 7th September, so roughly three weeks.

 

Just set up a monthly bill pay 3 or 4 days before due day, and that allows for weekends and if the amount changes or public holidays fall on wrong days then just edit it , shouldn't be to often unless  have landline tolls or something.

 

Looking through past bills they are all the 7th, so seems the due date doesn't change.

 

Edit: If they're direct debiting your bank account don't see any advantage in this, unless it just you want to have it come out on pay day.

 

I do it to avoid credit card surcharges.

It just seems strange that I can do it on our two mobile accounts but not the Broadband.
