I used to get really good download speed with 2 degrees but lately I am having issues.
I am on the 900/400 plan since March and back in March I was able to get 900Mbit down and 400Mbit up.

Tested my setup which is:

Computer A ethernet cable ----- Gig Switch ----- Computer B

Using netperf or iperf I can get 940Mbit from computer A to B
I can get 940 Mbit from computer B to A.

The router is a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter 4 and back in March I routinely got the 900 Mbit download speeds on speedtest.net.

The issue is I can NOT get more then 640Mbit downstream now, even after midnight.
Upstream is perfectly fine and I get around 430Mbit.

Called 2 degrees support today and they said 634 Mbit down is good enough now and test it off peak.

I signed up for a 900/400 plan not a 600/400 so any thoughts on the above response ?
Regardless I can not even get close to the subscribed 900 Mbit down these days.

You don't say what firmware version you're using..

All of the version 2 firmware have this

Good point !
I tested the connection with both version 1.10.10 and version 2.0.6 and there was a small improvement in performance on the version 2.0.6 firmware.

@Linux

That does not mean I should not get the ~900Mbit/second speed at times.
The 2 degrees sign up form states you do not get this speed all the time and it can vary, obviously it does.
But not by 33% less recently all the time.

Currently I am not even sure it is 2degrees.
Last time back in March when I could not get more then 100Mbit/sec it turned out to be a faulty ONT and Chorus replaced the ONT.
This time it is different though.

How are you testing speed?

Have you tried a different PC?

Based on laws of probability and literally hundreds of posts on here from people complaining about Gigabit speed issues the chances of it being in any way related to the RSP sit somewhere about 0.01% - it is almost certainly your setup.

@firstclass Have you reviewed the many other threads here on Geekzone and end users complaining of slow speed and how the issues were resolved?

Also @NickMack has a sticky thread here in the 2degrees section of Geekzone have you checked that out?

I'm in Christchurch and get on average 20% better speedtest.net d/l results from the 2Degrees Dunedin test server than the Christchurch one if I don't hit near the 200/20.

Upload is always in excess of the 20!

Or at times, I get far better d/l results to Sydney.

It all depends on the loading on the test servers.

Fibre is still newish, so everyone wants to test, test, test etc!

Your issue is how you're testing. Speedtest is just terrible.

Boot into Linux and test again. There is nothing wrong with your connection.

I downloaded Fedora 30 and burned it on a USB image.
Will see if I can live boot my FreeBSD server and test the connection.

But as mentioned speedtest.net from a Windows PC is not a really accurate way of testing.

We are doing some investigation at the moment of devices that are continuing pole our speedtest servers, we are seeing a large number of Unifi devices (for example) continuously testing (Maybe a default setting on some versions of firmware) which is putting unnecessary load on these boxes. They all have 10GbE Nic's in them, and are limited to 5GbE traffic which maybe the bottle neck - I'm somewhat loathed to increase this limit for obvious reasons..... I've asked the team to provide a report on this, then we will look at how we sort this out.

i know there are some people on here that conduct speedtesta every 5 minutes or so.

I cant see the point but they obviously think its necessary.

I have already increased the speedtest timeout to ~40mins or turned it off on my controller across all sites. I bet some people set it to ~1min which is stupid IMO.
