Is it likely that 2D are going to bring any of the following Apple features in the foreseeable future?

Visual Voicemail
eSim
eSim for Apple Watch

I’ve used them all overseas and they are useful to have. It would be nice to know if there’s anything coming but I suspect I may get a corporate ‘no comment’

Thanks

A

Visual Voicemail is supported by 2degrees, it's just not switched on for customers. I say this as at least one of the execs is using it. So it's not a technical problem, but rather they have chosen for one reason or another to not make it a commercial offering. As the other poster said above, there is no money in it. It also requires licensing the technology from Apple. I would imagine the typical 2degrees customers is probably not using an iPhone and of those that are probably even less would be checking their voicemail frequently, although on this I have nothing to back this up with.

eSIM for devices is relatively trivial to set-up in the grand scheme of things. However, eSIM for Apple Watch is quite a different beast as this involves "number sharing" with the companion iPhone. It also involves getting certification from Apple.

The only Apple feature I'm holding out for is "Don't immediately autoplay when reconnecting to Bluetooth."

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

I get very few voicemails but I have found VVM useful when I have had it. So I wouldn’t say that getting few voicemails negates the utility of it. It’s helpful to be able to see who’s left you a mail and easy to manage and follow up on - it’s not always practical to deal with a voicemail when you get it so leaving it unread to deal with later is useful. If it’s implemented already then switching it on for customers is a no brainer. Clearly the execs like it if they have it on their phones.

As for eSIM. the sooner the better. I have considered moving provider on this basis and I will not be alone so maybe the ‘typical 2D’ user doesn’t own an iPhone because they’ve already moved to spark?

Just use Hi Voicemail for iOS.  Works a treat.  Native Visual Voicemail has been a thing on the iPhone since 2007, if it's not here by now, it's not coming.
