Hi folks, we had a great internet service with Orcon many years ago until they were snapped up by Kordia then their internet and customer service went down the drain so we switched to another awesome small South Island ISP who were too good and were SNAPed up by one of the teleco’s and have also now become disappointing. We are looking at changing and I have seen great support from Vocus on this forum and just want feedback on their overall service. We have fibre installed and would want the fastest connection, but we also still have our copper landline which is costing us $50 a month. Is VOIP genuinely better? Also the Geekzone deal is tempting
Any feedback is appreciated.
Many thanks.

VoIP in general......... (so not Orcon specific)

I pay $10+GST a month for my VoIP connection via 2Talk and had zero issues with it. Before that, I was on VoIP with Voyager, and years ago with Orcon.

So is it better ? Quality wise, you wouldnt know the difference really, but feature wise, yes, lot more portability with it and fun things you can do.

I have high expectations and low tolerance for issues when it comes to ISP's in general I would say, and despite a similar experience with the Orcon of old, I recently decided to take a punt based on feedback I'd seen here and I was exceptionally pleasantly surprised. It was probably my easiest and straight forward sign up process since dial up was the internet on offer, and I have worked with a LOT of ISP's. My experience with support has been pretty good, though admittedly I haven't needed much. The My Orcon app does make things a fair bit easier.

I am impressed, I hope they can maintain this level of delivery.

I can recommend them without hesitation on my current experience

Voyager are also excellent in my experience, I'd still be with them if they had been competitive, but Orcon was "significantly" cheaper.

Thanks for the feedback, I was gutted that Orcon went downhill so fast but they do seem to have improved - I still use my original Orcon email as my main one😱.

Funnily enough you posted this during a decent Vocus outage in the North Island
