Hi,

I left a similar question on broadband forum, however this forum may more suitable.

I'm thinking about to switch to 2Degrees and I found that their offer saying it's 30/10Mbps where my raw connection seems much faster.

Local Exchange RDB3
Local Cabinet RDB/AF
Distance from Local Cabinet 145 Metres
Theoretical Max Speed 130 Mbps down / 30 mbps up

Would the 30/10Mbps actually enforced if I switch?

Pretty sure the 30/10 refers to fibre - it's the entry level plan. I doubt they would cap xDSL - just clumsy wording

fwiw I have vdsl, and my average speed test has me around 40-45 down and 12-15 up

Again FWIW a friend is on 2D VDSL and has close to 30Mbps on the up.

@Shin I was on 2d VDSL prior to moving to fibre with them, and I was definitely getting over 30/10, so I would imagine it is just clumsy wording, like mentioned previously.

Yep as the others have said - just not worded well. They don't limit your speed - it's just what your line can handle.

@nztim checked the rough speed you will get in the other thread and you would have a fantastic connection.

As mentioned in the previous post, the Modem, Internal Wiring, and you have POTS so Filters all play a part what speed you will get also as I mentioned in the other thread, you have phones scattered throughout your house so if you switch your landline will move to VOIP and the router (fritz I believe) will not have the power to make all those phones ring (depending how many you have), I have tried to google the specs of the Fritz for you and I can't find anything on the ringer power, but I very much doubt it will be above 1 or 2.
