in the same boat as you. i have signed up for their $75 deal.. any1 has any experience in wellington
It shouldn't make any difference where in the country you are - top of the SI here, don't have gigabit, but on 200/200 I can max that out to Sydney easy with 41ms ping.
This should really tell you all you need to know - thanks to @nickmack
Does anyone know how to search for a server in the Win10 Ookla speedtest app? Doesn't seem to be possible.
I think @michaelmurfy is on 2degrees and in Wellington.

Be aware that they have CG-NAT now.

Really? When did this happen? is it just for new connections? Can't say I've noticed any change although I do have a static IP.
EDIT: should have just googled - https://help.2degreesmobile.co.nz/app/answers/detail/a_id/402/~/changes-to-ip-addresses-%28cgnat%29

I've been on Snap and then 2degrees internet for about 8 years now. Finally getting fibre installed into our street and saw the $75 deal that you mentioned and thought great, Ill get that. Read the Ts&Cs and its for new customers only :/
I doubt Ill switch providers as I really like the service that I have got from 2degrees but these "deals" certainly hurt a bit. It seems like you are forced to switch providers regularly if you want to keep getting the best prices.

Just call them. You have a good chance of getting the deal if you agree to a fixed contract for a year, if you are not already on a contract.

@Lias Close, I don't count anymore as I am based in Paraparaumu.
Also regarding CG-NAT. Don't let this be a deal-breaker as 2degrees are still an excellent ISP. If you find xx is totally shafted due to not having a public IP just phone up and tell them, they're more than helpful. Most customers don't need a public IP and even IoT devices normally work well without one.
If you're port forwarding to a camera or a DVR then perhaps do a quick Google search to work out if it is really a good idea (hint, it is not) then forget that idea and stay on CG-NAT.

I have a few smart devices which work on the Tuya platform, cameras and security alarms. Will they work? I have already signed up and connection date is early next month. What if after the i get connected to 2dgrees they stop working (currently with Voyager). Do i have an option to change my provider without paying any termination fees ? Will 2degrees provide a resolution(obviously i dont want to pay 10/month for static IP) main reason i changed was the price ?
Anyone has any ideas?
can you provide some clarification
@XinfinityoO Should work fine. Like I say, if it doesn't just call them - they're very helpful.

Yeah I know the tone of the neighbourhood has gone down terribly since you moved up lol. But seriously you used to be in town and I'd imagine from an ISP perspective service in Kapiti is going to be virtually identical to service in town. Also there's the whole "If you can catch a metlink train to it, it's part of Wellington argument" :-P

alavaliant: I'm in Wellington with gigabit on 2degrees (for the record I have a static IP so I'm not going through CG-NAT). My speedtest numbers tonight; Wellington; 917 Mbps down, 508 Mbps up Christchurch; 880 Mbps down, 471 Mbps up Auckland; 802 Mbps down, 443 Mbps up Sydney; 772 Mbps down, 366 Mbps up Los Angeles; 497 Mbps down, 140 Mbps up
Are you paying 10$ month for the static ??
I'm in Wellington and just recently switched to the 2D 1Gb plane. No static IP.
So, the best speed I'm getting in Speedtest is on the 2D Auckland server: ~850MBps download, ~$400MBps upload.
There are no WLG 2D servers in the list. So, I've tried Spark and others available in WLG and the download speed was never higher than 600Mbps.
If you try international servers (US, Germany) the download is about 100Mbps (usually lower than that).
The best international is the 2D server in AU where I've got about 200Mbps download.
Now, one more thing that I've found is that my torrens downloads are working much slower than when I was on the 100Mpbs plan with BP. I've tried investigating this a bit and I suspect that this is caused by the 2D CG-NAT. Basically, the CG-NAT prevents you from distributing the content (seeding). Torrents are using P2P. So, if you are only consuming and not distributing in response a lot of nodes drop the connection.
I consider switching from a 100mbps in BP where I had a static IP with no monthly fee as mistake. I would not change if I aware of the CG-NAT and how badly it affects the P2P.
Got a client on gigabit with 2D top of SI and can get around 850/480 to Sydney with 41ms ping.
Getting around 600/100 to LA with 143ms ping however that is in a browser in Windows, and the speeds are still climbing when the test finishes so I'm quite sure the actual speeds are better than that.
