I just updated my iPhone to iOS 13.2.2 and after a reboot it asked to update the carrier settings. I now notice under Mobile settings the 2degrees Voice & data options now have "4G, VoLTE On" and "4G, VoLTE Off". When I go to turn it on, it has this scary message:

Should I enable it? Or is that not wise right now?

It's safe to turn on, but unless you live in particular areas where VoLTE is enabled you won't notice much one way or the other.

One way to test if it works is to call someone and if it drops back to 3g then volte does not work yet :)

Any particular location out west that you can pin point that has 2 degrees VoLTE enabled. I have a 2 degrees variant S9+, but am a vodafone customer ( work phone plan ) and want to use vodafone VoLTE.

At the moment i don't see the toggle to switch VoLTE on or off. Hopefully this firmware gets triggered when i am in 2D VoLTE area.

@NetwNZ VoLTE is enabled with no toggle off/on with the 2degrees firmware!

What I had in mind was, If i have a physical location that has 2D VoLTE enabled, I could drive there, using my wife's 2D simm card in my phone and hopefully that triggers/enables the VoLTE firmware on my handset.

Still very quiet on VoLTE going live!

Anyone seen VoLTE on 2degrees outside of RCG areas?

Dang that sucks. I always remember Snap being very agile and adopting new technologies / services quickly. Contrarily on the Mobile side it seems like 2d is always last to do things like this. I wonder why that is.

@boosacnoodle How long has 2d had Wi-Fi calling over the other carriers?

In part because it is something that you won't even notice is there unless you're specifically searching for it. It doesn't give you anything you haven't already got other than handover from Wifi calling, or calls on LTE-only RCG sites (where it is already live).

There are other things we can prioritise that will make a real difference. So yes, we have to have VoLTE eventually because 3G will go away - but especially right at the moment in the middle of a COVID-19 crisis, there are more important things at the top of the list.

If 3G is going to go away will that mean 2degrees will be setting up more towers to plug the last few coverage holes or talk to Vodafone about 4G roaming?

When I say 'going away' I don't mean 'tomorrow'. :-) And we are always building new sites, even during the COVID crisis.
