Hey , I have had an on going issue with my phone and internet. Chorus isn’t fixing it , it’s been going on for 4 months. Where the speed is showing at 17mbsp Download speed on the Chorus website and my modem interface. when I do an online speed test I get 0.40mbsp, one of the lowest speeds in New Zealand. a technician brought my modem and plugged directly into the cabinet and I received 0.40mbsp. I’ve tried spark, frizbox and net gear modems. I’ve tried gaming laptop, windows and MacBook laptops , and Ethernet cable and all 1-0.40mbsp. Download speeds. I’m only 800m from the cabinet , and on ADSL.

Any suggestions of what the problem could be , or how to fix it ,

post up your line stats from your modem

what modem do you have?

your post lacks basic information to allow others to help you diagnose the issue.

Linux: When you put your address into the ChorusNZ address checker what speed are you advised you should be getting?

It's in the first post - 17 Mb/s.

If the sync rate is OK, but throughput is far lower, the most common issues are upstream saturation, or using a poor WiFi connection.

Upstream saturation is when there is something uploading on your connection that then impacts on the downstream - check for uploads like cloud backups, onedrive, iCloud etc.

Are you testing over WiFi or ethernet?

If you log in to the web interface for your modem, there should be a status page that show various detail about the xDSL connection - main ones are sync rate, noise margin and attenuation.

The fritz also has charts on utilization of the line, but if the tech took the router to another location and checked it, then its unlikly to be something on your network saturating the upload.

There is a place on the fritz where you put the speed of your connection and it will limit to that. Check those numbers are not filled in with silly low amounts.

Traceroute looks OK which would indicate its not a conklin like those asking about rural suspected.

Pass Nick the details and he will be able to help. 2d have some cool tools with those fritz for investigating these sorts of issues :)
