Am currently with Orcon Wireless Broadband; the connection randomly cut out Thursday last week. Have tried unplugging the router, the modem, the wireless receiver; to no avail. Have also directed the connection straight to the PC (not going through the router) and still, it didn't work. After ringing them (for about the 4th time), I get an Asian/Indian that tells me to change a few settings in my router.. (SMC Barricade); still, web pages wouldn't load. I was frustrated over the weekend without any access to the internet. I decided to ring a technician this morning; thought i'd check to see if it works one more time. Now it does! HOWEVER after the lengthy conversation with the Asian/Indian there, he told me to set up a new connection in 'Network Places' (Windows XP) and now I have to connect to that everytime I want to access the internet. Before, I could turn on the computer and it would automatically be connected. ALSO, that same 'technician' also suggested that I change a few settings on my router.. none of these settings helped at the time. However, now that it's working, I can't get my computers that are on the wireless network (in my home) to connect to the router at all. Luckily I backed up my router settings before making any changes, but now I can't get the router software page up on my web browser (some of you will know that typing your routers IP address in the URL bar, it would take you to router settings etc. [usually 192.168.1.1 or something]) So now I have to get a technician out to try and fix it all.
I have also wanted to change my plan speed and data allowance for months (since June infact) and everytime i've rang asking why it hasn't changed over the new month, the only reply I got was "It's still processing, it will change next month" - this was the exact answer I got for the next three months. Eventually, this month I rang them up and blasted them.. and what do you know? the person on the phone changed my internet speed WHILE I was on the phone. I don't see why it took them since June to change when the person on the phone said "OK, I have changed your internet speed now - It should be working fine"
Am FED UP with Orcon Wireless. I'm going over to Farmside.
Anyone happen to know of any other Wireless ISP's?
End of rant.
