My father is trying to get into his fritzbox, the default password of 'admin' is not being accepted and he does not know what else it could be.

How do we resolve this issue? Do 2degrees have the ability to remote into the router and reset it for him?

I don't really want to do a factory reset as I wouldn't know how to get his landline working again etc.

Suggestions?

Hard reset the router so everything is reset to default

Loads of information online how to action this

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Admin is not the default password.

I got two stickers with mine and stuck one on the bottom. It’s a whole lot of numbers, probably different ones for each box.

pretty sure the 7490 prompts you to set a password on first login . . . . so if you can't remember what it is, then a full reset is gonna be necessary

Try the back up IP to get into the Fritzbox  169.254.1.1 you may be lucky.

Cheers all, sorted now. He called the helpdesk and they reset the password. Definitely easier than factory resetting.
