I went away for a month and when I got back my downloads seem to be limited to around 200KB/s where previously I was getting 450KB/s. Speedtest, if anything is faster than it was previously. Is Orcon limiting speed to Rapidshare??

Yeah they are but its not just rapidshare. Couple of months back i was getting 1600Kb/s during peak times now its down to 200kb/s for downloads. Funny enough if i perform a speedtest the results come back great and i can happly play AOC while downloading. So my guess is orcon is shaping the crap out of downloads in order to keep gamers and email readers happy.
Shame theres no other ISP worth swapping to at the moment.
Do you have a premium account? If you are using the free service then there is no sense in blaming the ISP.
Premium accounts allow you to do segmented downloading/multiple connections using a download manager (download them all/flashget) so you can squeeze out that much more bandwidth.
