Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone lese is having major issues loading the seek website? I am waiting up to 10mins at times for pages to load!

Only seems to have started happening in the last couple of weeks and only with the seek webiste.

Initially I thought it was a server issue at the seek end or bottlenecks with international traffic but through some testing on friends PC's (who are not with snap) and loading other aussie websites all seems to be ok - except with my connection - GRRRR!

have logged some calls with snap support and the guys are as helpful as ever but scratching their heads cos they can't duplicate the issues.

I have done some traceroutes and the results as below are pretty standard:

I try pinging seek.co.nz and end up with something like:
30 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 29010ms

Any help or comments appreciated!

Flushed your DNS?
ipconfig /flushdns (I think)

Also, try open browser in no add ons mode. Try a different browser. Uninstall any toolbars. Uninstall Adobe Flash - then reinstall it.

thanks baron, no joy though unfortunately.

tried three different browers, cleared DNS, multiple reboots, reinstall of browsers and all addins.

i use a Linksys SPA2102 to connect my analog phone on a naked connection and have tried porting around this and still no fix.
i run ubuntu linux for what it is worth.

what else could i be missing here? would a static IP make any difference? (presumably not?)

Your traceroute looks the same as mine. I also use Linux. I can't think of a reason for you not to be able to connect to that server.

Your first post shows that you can lookup the address for seek.co.nz in DNS - you're getting 202.58.38.93 Unfortunately there's no other services running on that server by the looks that you could try connecting to.

supersimmo have you tried changing DNS servers??

Have a look here http://www.nzconnection.net/DNS_Servers for some DNS servers you can try.

Yes DNS was a problem for me going from Orcon to Snap.. somethings just didn't resolve, others did intermittently and others fine.

I went with snaps DNS and it went o.k.... tried going to alien (xtras) dns.. intermittent.. back to snaps, fine.

sorry guys still no improvement for seek. although the change has reduced the lag slightly for other page loading.

just tried an experiment and plugged in my work laptop (windoze xp) - and seek runs fine! my delays - just as if it is like any other web page.

this has got me stuffed! what is going on? bad page coding? java issues? config issue on my linux box?

any further ideas folks? Might be heading for a reinstall of gutsy or trying some other distro.

You have cleared the cache on the linux browser (firefox?) that is giving the slow seek loads? Cleared cookies? Disable any and all firefox extensions and test again.

whats the output of nslookup to seek?

I have tried three different browsers - firefox, epiphany & opera. Same result for all. Clearing cache and cookies and disabling plugins, etc. has made no difference at all.

your dns server is set to your.. router. Tell your router to forward dns requests upstream or specifically to snaps DNS.

nope - still the same - have tried a bunch of different DNS options.

this has got me stuffed. guess i will just have to subscribe to the email service for now.

Whaaa? That is strang...

you can ping 202.58.38.93? How about a tracert to it? Then.. to rule out your browser try telneting to the webserver:
telnet 202.58.38.93 80

should get something like:
Connected to 202.58.38.93.
Escape character is '^]'.
^CConnection closed by foreign host.

You have got my curiousity up.
