Hi guys, I have taken the plunge and swapped to 2degrees B/Band when my Stuff contract ran out. Because I paid in full I now own the ASUS RT-AC58U router and do not have to return it.

I am absolutely thrilled with the Fritzbox 7530 router, followed the instructions, plugged it in to ONT and computer and Hi-Ho Silver - 926/516 straight away - up and running 6 minutes flat. When they process my Supergold discount I will be replete.

I have been experimenting - what else do you do in Jacindalockdown time - with trying to reconfigure the ASUS router as a WiFi repeater to assist coverage in the far corners of my domain. I have a nice long ethernet cable to connect the two devices.

I have had several failed attempts after watching YouTube howtodoit videos and after resetting the unit 5 times have decided to seek assistance.

Is there anyone out there who has already invented this wheel? Disabling the DHCP was the easy part but I am stuck at the next step setting the addresses. I have 192.168.1.1 compared with 192.168.178.1 and know not where where to put them.

If anyone has completed this, please point me right or if there is a better (no Indian accent) video then that would be great. Thanks in anticipation.

Plug the router to the Fritz. If the ASUS doesn't have a bridge mode then, using the RT-AC58U browser admin access to:

1. Internet setup - use Automatic IP connection setup as per page 16 of the manual or

1.a WAN Internet connection (page 60) set connection type to Automatic IP, Set NAT to NO, Enable UPNP to NO.

2. Disable Firewall (page 72)

2. In LAN Setup (page 55) disable DHCP server (page 56) and disable VLAN

3. Set Wireless to same SSID / password as Fritz (devices will connect to the strongest signal around).

On your Fritz you might want to reserve the address - find the router in the your network and set it to always use the assigned address.

It would not talk if plugged into the Fritz, had to go direct cable and access 192.168.1.1

I set the ones I could find and selected the non-router operation option.

Set up the WiFi 2.4 and 5MHz then it rebooted. Plugged into Fritz and hoped.

Could not access thru 192.168.1.1 so ran FritzBoz and found it there, a LAN member.

Access achieved - About 7 connections with 192.168.178.XX address plus 1 gateway

I think it's working, thank you very much.

Will report when ASUS placed in position at end of Ethernet cable

Reporting results after connecting ASUS router off Fritxbox and to close off this item.

According to ASUS, my flatmate is now getting 72M TX and 39M RX, whatever that is. He is happy as.

Slung the ASUS off a couple of Bunnings sticky hooks and string up by the ceiling to get the best

penetration. My other flatmate gets a solid 144 with her new Iphone so everyone is happy. I get by

with my ethernet at 905/515, it's a struggle.....
