Hello,

Does anyone have access to an up to date list of shortcodes in use? I've found a few links floating around but none have the shortcode for the message I've received recently - it's spam and include no way to opt out, and I want to complain to the provider.

The is the link I've already found:
https://www.vodafone.co.nz/cms/documents/premium-txt-codes.pdf

Cheers,
Mike

That list seems fairly out of date (I assume this is why you're asking), 2327 according to the list is "Airline disruption notifications", but I received texts from it saying my groceries were ready to be picked up, and Two Factor Authentication codes.

I assume you just complain to your own provider and they will follow up with the other party's provider? Many of the short codes I receive from seem to be shared by multiple services. I'm guessing in some cases the short code is operaterd by an intermediary (and not directly by the sender) which handles short code services for many clients. Sometimes they don't check their clients are leigit and allow bad ones to send messages via their service.

The problem is the sending number can be easily spoofed.

Ring 2D and speak with the billing team as should be able to inform you of who sent the charge and the number to call to complain to.

I know it's a pain but trying to have a public list of short text numbers means it would require publishing their information and the whole privacy act comes into play.

If you are getting erroneous entries on your bill then ring up 2D and complain directly to them and ask for it to be reversed or queried.
