Today I am being switch to LLU with Orcon and a part of the deal is that they send you a Orcon Homehub. I have asked for mine to be shipped to work. One arrive today , looks the same thing as the one on the Orcon site but has Telecom branded all over it was was dispatched from Telecom Dispatch center. Kinda strange if that's the case..
The Orcon Homehub is supplied by Siemens Home Communications, and as far as I am aware there are no other carriers in New Zealand offering this product.
The Orcon Homehub features Orcon branding both on the packaging and the unit itself. There is certainly no Telecom branding on it (nor would there be any reason for there to be).
Hi Duncan, could you possibly shed some light on the $249 ADSL2+ filter install that has been advised by Orcon to some subscribers. Do you have a specification on this filter, how does it differ from the MM3200B specified by Telecom. Does the standard MM3200B meet Orcons subscriber filter requirement, if not why.
I am pretty sure (but will double check) that we use the same physical splitter 'box' that Telecom also install. The reason for the differentiated pricing is down to the difference between the fees that we are charged by our different suppliers. The $149 fee is passed on directly from our supplier in those cases (Telecom Wholesale), where as the $249 fee is passed on directly from Chorus - our supplier for unbundled connections.
Note that in neither case does Orcon add any margin to the cost of the installation.
