Hi All,

No planned work by us or upstream providers, no Network Events have occurred, Can I ask you call into Customer Care and provide your 2degrees Customer name/number, time of event, IP address etc so it can be investigated - 0800 022 022.

Nick

I’m not with 2d but on my spark fibre I have been having problems with some overseas websites too. Seems to be a problem with spark since it is fine on my voda mobile

Not sure if it's related but my connection has gone down and the PPPoE session will not stay up

My router can see the SNAP-41 BNG and authenticates fine, but no traffic is passing and eventually the session goes down

I’ve also lost connectivity at approx 1:37pm. I am not home so can’t check the routers but can confirm that power is online (otherwise would have gotten an AC power failure notification via mobile).

My access appears fine.  It just seemed strange that only certain sites couldn't be accessed.  At first i thought it was just internationals, but then NZ herald and the DOC booking system weren't able to be accessed.

It all seems fine now so I am going to put it down to pixies.

dt: Big chorus outage in Albany, Auckland fwiw

Really hope this is it, cause I called into 2degrees Care and the rep was totally unwilling to entertain the possibility it wasn't my BYO router causing it - refused to investigate further on their end and blamed my setup that was working until 1pm today with no changes (MikroTik RB3011).

@NickMack any chance you could confirm the Chorus outage in Albany would cause the PPPoE issues?

The 2d rep said he wasn't aware of any outages in the area

For reference I am in Pinehill/Albany area

Yep the map does show an outage covering my property, but the ONT still has a GPON signal and my MikroTik router shows the 2degrees BNG as reachable - sounded more like a 2d issue than a Chorus one to me since the PPPoE session would authenticate but not actually give me a session

Guess there's some sort of Chorus backhaul issue between my local 2d BNG and the 2d core network?

@OzoneNZ Then I would say it's 99% related to the ongoing Chorus issue

Hi All,

I pinged the NOC, as per @Linux there is indeed a Chorus outage at present, currently affecting ~12 2degrees customers. We typically publish to our website when there is more than 50 customers affected. I apologise that our care team was unaware of the fault, Ill follow up with them tomorrow as they should be aware of the outage regardless of our notification procedures.

Nick
