Having had to wrestle a bit with 2Degrees over losing a discount, this year I merely messaged them through the website. They offered to maintain both my $10 bundle discount and $10 discount for a 12 month terms. And, the plan price has dropped by $5 a month - so we'll pay $86 a month rather than $91. Sweet!

Now we just need hyperfibre (here in New Windsor Auckland) :) :)

Want hyperfibre. It's been available in our area for a while but still waiting on 2d as well.

You seem to be aiming to apply an evidence-based approach to defining "need". I reject this. :)

Hahaha.... this sums up NZ consumer broadband nicely....

Customer is worried about $5/month on the bill, but also wants the service to be 4x faster. Amazing lol.

Hyperfibre would be nice, >3k on a router to support it not so much. Then there'd be switches to upgrade, cat5 cabling to replace, new nic's etc... :-)

You are wrong. I *want* my broadband either to be free or that I be paid to use it. But I don't *expect* either. It's the same with any utility that's been dumped into a bogus "market" when the price differentiations have little to do with any substantive difference in product. Electricity comes to mind in this regard in NZ...

If you think that's the case with ISPs, I invite you to use one of the many dirt cheap options, such as MyRepublic. You'll soon find that actually, maybe there are factors that help differentiate between providers. For further research, look into how Vodafone, Spark, Vocus and 2Degrees handle their national and international transit and peering arrangements. There's certainly some notable differences, if you're doing anything more than looking at Facebook.

Good to hear. I’ve had a similar experience having been with Spark for over a decade - however after personally witnessing unethical behaviour, I decided to test the waters with 2 Degrees. I was very impressed with both their retail and contact centre teams and felt very looked after.

They offered some sharp pricing, not exactly the cheapest but when you consider the features, customer service and pricing - I’m very happy with their offerings and look forward to renewing when my broadband contract lapses.
