Yo..

Is SNAP having speed issue with Nite Owl users only or it is affecting every one ?

Especially with LA speed test info?

I am thinking of joining Snap.

I'm on their... pro plan (not sure what night owl is but I know I dont have it) and their internet has been very poor. Much worse than Orcon whom I was previously with. I came to snap to save $10 a month.. and now wish i was back with orcon. I'll move next month once a few other priorities are removed from my list

Today its been complete garbage, for instance

So.. no red vs blue for me, or any youtube.

No live streaming radio 1 without stream breakup (its a 128kb stream!)

As for Berlin.. I'm going to move there in a few years! Which is good if I want to download something from NZ as upload here to Berlin is faster than download:

**AND** just to prove its not a local problem (and I am typing all of these headings before making the test.. because this is all too familar and common place) the speed to Japan will ROCK!
It is **always** fast to Japan.. so.. it just screams to me that Snap have broadband capacity problems with some suppliers.

Would you like anything else on Snap? Tracert's perhaps? There are no pairings in new zealand other than the one in Christchurch, so unless you are south of there you will get a ping increase.

Fred

At the moment it appears xnet/Slingshot/Orcon/adding to the list Snap are all having speed issue.
yes sound like a broken record and can also looks like a conspiracy theory as well ?

I hate to go to Xtra on principle due to the fact that Telecom gives the smaller ISP heap for so many years,
perhap thing has changed

I may have to bite the bullet and take the Xtra pro plan.

Currently with Orcon and get unusual speed interruptions.  Checked with my flat mates occasionally when this happens, and they are not even on the net!
Dunno, just wish I was back with Cable, which was steady when working, if not reliable, no speed spikes, which kills my gaming experiences.

edit: forgot to mention we are possibly getting a wireless link directly to SNAPS receiver in Chch soon, should be interesting to see what this service will be like.  We are only just down the road.  Will post new info when this happens, and speed tests have been done.

For snap it is not 'at the moment' thing.. this has been ongoing since I joined... 10 weeks ago(?!)

Yes.. perhaps I will move to a provider further up the food chain..

Or because I have a 3 hour exam tomorrow on information systems management.
As I stated before on this site once the exam is out of the way I will be putting down the foot on snap and then seeking another ISP if nothing comes from it.

but surprise surprise bandwidth to Japan is excellent.. so its not an internal technical problem it is a bandwidth problem.

  Youtube....

Snap... it is still craptastic.

It looks like there are only 2 options left i.e Telecom or Telstraclear to get good connection speed.

Moreover Telecom will scrap the 128K/S upload speed all together as in November I think;
that will squeze the smaller ISP more.
