Wife tells me that often she will see a missed call and think nothing of it... Then another day, another missed call and a SMS "You have new voicemail".

 

When she access the voice mailbox there are actually two VMs: one for the recently missed call and another for the previous call - which did not send out a SMS notification.

 

This often happens to her. Anyone else noticed this?

Is it only voicemail notifications? We have had problems in the past where a handset will not like a message for some reason and refuse to acknowledge it which can mean that other messages get stuck in a queue behind it until it expires, and then they will all arrive together. We have mitigations in place to prevent it, but if it is still happening I'd like to know.

 

If it's only voicemail then that obviously points the finger at voicemail itself rather than SMS.

It seems to be only on VM notifications.

I get actual missed calls on 2D quite a bit - not sure where the blocking is happening though, in the 4G->3G layer, signalling or lost path (eg 2D wifi calling is great for not being available)

I checked with support and they said that there had been a voicemail outage which caused it this time.
