I'm beginning to regret go to LLU now with the broadband issues I'm having.  No complaints about INTL speed. I'm getting 5.4Meg with the Orcon Homehub however.

1. Last Wednesday nite I was downloading  with my  old DSE ADSL1 router a 500 meg download at 4.2Mbits

The download stopped after about 15 minuts. The download manager after a coiuple of minutes restarted OK.

5 minutes later it stopped again.  This time I had to reboot the router and it started again.

5 minutes later it stopped again. Rebooted router but it did not come back .  ADSL was there and I could see data but no WAN address from Orcon.

Orcon was unable to reset my port at Papatoetoe   durring Thursday  at midnite they must have done some hard reset and all came back up again.

Today Saturday I tried to download another file this time using my Orcon Homehub.  The download speed was about 2.2Meg. After about 20 minutes the internet stopped again and had to reboot the router to get things started.

It's currently downloading again but I have throttled the download speed to about 1.1Mbits and so far so good.  Not too keen being a long weekend to crank it up to full speed in case I loose internet until Tuesday.  Sounds to me like the port at Papatoetoe that I am connected to has a problem,

Rather usless having ADSL2 and LLU FS down and up with 25Gig and usage  if  I can't use it.

I'll give until Nov 10 to sort this and then it goes back to what it was pre LLU if It can be done otherwise I may change ISPs which I don't want to do as I've been with Orcon since Voyager ceased in about 2000

Hi there, I'm confused... what makes you say this means LLU isn't a good idea?

LLU gives the ISP more control over the connection for the customer. Instead of just reselling what we're given, we get to sell what we think customers want. That gives you more choice (or will when the exchanges/cabinets are all unbundled).

Paul, I think the OP is referring to switching to an LLU product with Orcon (compared to say a wholesaled product), and not the actual concept of LLU?

Yep correct.  The concept of LLU is good but as it stands with my Orcon account I am beginning to wonder..

Ah, righto. I'm with you. Thought you were blaming LLU for the problem.

Cheers

Looks like after lots of tooing and frowing on Orcons part they have nailed this problem.  After the  adustments done this afternoon I did a 1.3Gig download tonite from the US at 4.9 ~ 5.2 Mbits rock solid with no problems..

Many thanx guys.

Now if you can sort my fone problems out as fast..

Phone problems?  Can you elaborate?

Durring calls both in  and out both parties get dead air. i.e no speech.  Call does not drop off as there is still side tone and neither partry hears any form of disconnection tone.  Also  some calls end up with one way speech.  We can hear them but they can't hear us..

I have logged the problem with Orcon giving dates and times  of the last occurence..

That's why I chose to stick with the devil I know. I'm in Ponsonby, with Orcon (for DSL, and Telecom for phone), but not on LLU. By the sounds of things, it's probably a good thing that they haven't tried to force me over, yet... Tongue out
