Hello

One of the reasons ive recently switched to orcon is the hope of some IPTV, im very keep for this. Id prefer this over freeview/sky any day.

Does any one know anything more about it ? like what there planin to have on it etc... Id be so happy if they managed to get scifi but I think im pretty much dreaming there haha

They have been talking about this for years were were promising to have this running by the end of 2007. One of the problems I know they have had issues with is content - you simply can't just go broadcasting channels that are tied up by other content providers or rebroadcast FTA channels.

I still don't see a huge future for IPTV over ADSL/VDSL here in NZ in the short term as there are simply too many issues to overcome. TCL's IPTV offersing will be interesting but no good if you're not in Wgtn/Kapiti/Chch

I think they've stopped talking about it when Orcon was sold.
Across providers the only one doing IPTV is TelstraClear.

Let's see what sort of agreements Freeview will seek.
They have pre-announced a decoder box with an Ethernet port for this sort of application.

If National's $1.5 billion plan for broadband goes ahead that would reshape the landscape, allowing for IPTV, hi-def, applications.
