Hi Guys

Is there anybody using Dlink-G604T on the Dlink network???

I am having this random disconnection on my modem almost everyday and everytime I have to reset my modem and re-start again.

Well I have 4 computers in my house plus playstation 3 as well. When if I am open at least 3-4 computers and start surfing, then the random disconnection will start to happen.....

I have rang Orcon, they said my modem doesn't support 100% on the orcon ADSL2+ network if I have more than 3-4 computers switch on and advise me to change a new modem to rule out any of the line problems on my connection. (some sort of conflict between the modem and the orcon network?)

As I said to Orcon, prior of joining to Orcon at August 2008, I am with Telecom Go large plan, this random disconnection never happen to me before. so I certainly believe it is not my line fault....

Also, on my current settings
VPI 0
VCI 100
Virtual Circuit: Enable
WAN: PPPoE/PPPoA
Authentication Type: Auto
Connection Type: PPPoA/LLC
MTU 1400
MRU 1492
Default Route: Enable
NAT: Enable
Firewall: Enable
IP control: Dynamic IP

and on my advance setting, then on ADSL button on left, there are so many mode to choose, i orginally choose ADSL2+(Multi-session), then talk to Dlink about this, they tell me to use ADSL(ITUG992.3) they both doing random disconnection to me, now I try with ANSI TI.413 and see what is the outcome now

Thank you guys, and hopefully you help will be able to solve the problem that I am experienced...

Just as a matter of interest.  Does this happen when you load up the broadband with downloads over 2mbits in speed  or full speed??

ADSL compatability is a black art. Your current modem probably worked fine with the Telecom network (thats why they gave away dlink modems), but other networks it might not be as stable.

Borrow a modem and try it, see if it makes a difference.

Orcon sell/hire the Siemens modem, which apparently is good. I have even heard people gaining a few mbit from swapping over too.

I think you misread what I said

Some modem will work fine with Telecoms dslams, where some others dont
some modem will work fine on Orcons Dslams, and some don't, even though they were connected fine to Telecoms dslams

Try a new modem brand.

see what happens.

Please post sync rates, noise margin and attenuation figures. Also the log - which should show disconnection.

if your modem is freezing ie you cannot access your web interface then that will unlikely be a problem with orcon,

you should definaitly try another modem.  (not a Linksys WAG200 tho, this router misbehaves on some orcon llu links)

yeah that sounds more like a dying modem than an orcon fault I'd do as suggested and try another modem do you know anyone on an adsl connection you could borrow a modem off of just to see

Jacky, Don't forget to install the latest firmware....

I'm running version V3.02B01T01.NZ.20080827

Good news is that installing the new firmware doesn't affect the router configuration.

The release notes are on their website next to the firmware download.    From memory it mentions something about ADSL2+ compatability...

Being in the industry I'm a firm believer in keeping the firmware up-to-date - and with DLink love being able to apply without having to reconfigure the router...
