Up until yesterday I was getting names along with numbers for caller ID where the name was published in the number in the white pages.

This seems to have stopped as of yesterday. Anyone else noticed this? Know what is going on?

It was a really handy feature!

There have been rumors floating around for the past couple of years that Callplus had been illegally using the White Pages database for CID lookups and also for their VisiBill system (to give you the same details on your bill). I know other telcos had wanted to be able to do this but were unable to negotiate an official way of being able to access this data.

Maybe somebody from Callplus can comment in an official capacity? It certainly is a very cool feature and it would be fantastic if this information was available to all telcos!

And if it was actually near-real time, as some/many of the entries CallPlus use are out of date.

In the past it was very out of date, however they seems to have a new set of data recently.

Maybe they got busted when they scraped new data?
