Has anyone had any issues with Netflix recently? Streaming on my LG C8 tv via the Netflix app over Wifi and I’m getting 480p streams. Previously I’d get 4k streams without issue.

I’ve had issues with the streams actually buffering mid show too which I’ve never experienced before.

Is the show in question available in higher resolution?

Around lunchtime today we had a lot of short buffering on our C8 watching ‘Your Honor’ on the Neon app. Loaded the Neon app onto our ATV4 to continue watching and no problems there. No idea if any of this is coincidental with your issue today. TV was running Spark fibre and WiFi to the TV. Speed test of  the WiFi was full speed.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Yep. I’m finding the LG TV C8 to be crappy with Netflix connection - I’m on wifi 2.4 GHz as the 5GHz crapped out on my C8.

In Netflix under help, check Network settings, was getting a crappy 0.126 Mbps.

Power TV off and then back on and I’m getting  53.39 Mbps.

‘Seems to be if leave screen so it does fireworks display screen saver, the network speed just craps out.

I’m on 2degrees fibre 200/100, though at moment it is looking like to me the TV is at fault. Maybe something wrong with update on TV that added airplay 2.

At the moment LG is not on my next TV to buy list.

No problems on 2degrees fiber. Mi Box using USB wired ethernet. Don't know what resolution it's showing but looks fine and no buffering.

It just seems to be a LG C8 problem.

It seems to happen if the screen saver runs with Netflix running, such as if pause a show for to long.
I watched Sabrina HDR and Casper HD no problems, just didn’t let the screen saver run.

Haven’t tried the screen saver outside Netflix.

Have finished watching TV for the night and let screen saver on TV run, as soon as did the speed dropped off again.

‘YouTube is buffering as well so the wifi on the TV is slow on everything.

There was a firmware update on TV a few days ago, so it looks like the firmware update has broken the wifi after the screen saver runs. Putting TV into standby and turning back on again restores wifi speed.

I haven’t tested screen saver outside of Netflix yet, that’ll be next test.

So it looks like a Wifi issue on my C8.

Unifi app shows a 'Wifi experience' for my TV as moving between 99% and 60% at seemingly random times. Sometimes I can stream 4k stream without issue and then randomly it craps out of various apps including Netflix and YouTube. Until recently I never had an issue at all with my TV over WiFi.

I'll try turning off/on if I see the issue again. Bit of a pain really.
Looks like there's a post about it over on Reddit too https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED/comments/koqf7b/psa_lg_c8b8e8_do_not_install_latest_firmware_wifi/

Linux:

Use Ethernet

Ethernet is not convenient. TV is in another room, the fact is wifi should work, the TV is buggy.
LG needs to fix the firmware.
I prefer to run stuff direct on TV but I’m using Apple TV as work around.
When next buying a TV will look at a different brand unless LG fixes their wifi problems. No other device is having wifi issues.

How do you know it's not Wi-Fi interference?

Can you lock it to use 5Ghz only?

I know it’s not wifi interference because:

1: No other device in same room has problems.
2: The wifi only slows down after screen saver runs on TV, turning TV off and on restored wifi speed.

Point 2 only started happening since last firmware update on LG TV, making me suspect firmware is at fault:

I’m running TV on 2.4 GHz as if I use 5 GHz after a period of time the TV loses all wifi signal and again needs to be turned off and on. The 5 GHz was flaky on previous firmware as well.

The Apple TV on 5Ghz sitting next to TV is rock solid.
