I was ssh'd into my AWS server using IPv6 and my sessions dropped. I couldn't reconnect, but IPv4 worked fine. My Fritzbox router says I have an IPv6 address, but the IP checkers online say I don't and the Geekzone headers is missing the little IPv6 logo.

Is it just me who's having IPv6 issues on 2deg? I did switch to a static IPv6 today so that could be related.

Fine for me in northern Waikato. Is the router showing the static IPv6 you've just had assigned?

GZ still shows the IPv6 logo & myip.com still shows IPv6 addresses. Have not rebooted in a while.

Have you rebooted your router to ensure it is getting a fresh IP assignment?

Must just be me then thanks. Weird that I lost ip6 about 12 hours after I got it made static. 2deg said I didn't need to reboot router but I'll try that tomorrow thanks.

I did a Fritzbox firmware update (just because I found it) and reboot and IPv6 is back, so the reboot fixed it. Hopefully it stays up this time. It might be that 2degrees needs to include a "reboot your router" instruction when a static IP is allocated. Or maybe bad luck. Either way all sorted :)

Hey mate,
Yeah, you just needed to reboot your router. The new v6 assignment required your session to restart for the change to take effect. Usually this is done by the helpdesk via radius when you're given the /56 so that you don't actually need to reboot your router.
Must've slipped the agents mind 😅

Glad it's all sorted.

Cheers
