Well I've been on Orcon's + network for a week or so now. Other than the wee issue of my exchange (Pukekohe) needing more backhaul (max speedtest is just over 2Mb/s so far) the experience has been great all round.

1) Pre-sales customer service via email was prompt, helpful and concise.

2) The sign up process was straight-forward and quick

3) My post installation technical support was prompt, helpful and concise via both email and phone.

4) The website usage meter and detailed information and comprehensive functionality after logging in is brilliant

5) The credit on my first bill as an administration fee credit for signing up online was unexpected and a pleasant surprise

6) I just received a concise welcome letter and reference card with the relevant account and technical information on it. Included also was a SkyCity Cinemas 2 for 1 card.

The above are all indicators of a well tuned, finely polished machine. My previous ISP lacked in more or less all of the above and this previous week has left me really wondering why I bothered being loyal for so many months.

I'm told a backhaul upgrade is due this month, that leaves a day and a half from now. Heres hoping they come through with the goods in the very near future so I can enjoy something faster than ADSL1 speeds (my sync speed is 18.5Mb/s) without waiting until 2012 for Telecom to cabinetise Pukekohe.

Thanks Orcon, keep up the good work!

If you are syncing at 18.5mbps thios indicates you are relatively close to your exchange and you will not be moved to a cabinet once one is built. Getting only 2mb on a 18mb is really bad though lol hope they fix that son for you, that is getting more backhaul in which cabinets would help with but yeah 2012 is a long time away, for me though I will be switch to a cabinet and 2011, then maybe I can sync higher than 4mb.

Wrong, my actual location is in the cabinetisation schedule so I will be being cabinetised in 2012. I must just have a real good run to the exchange and Orcon's SNR tweaking will be helping too I assume.

Let's not take this OT.

I agree, everything so far has been awesome for me. A clean connection with no issues, higher speeds and quick answer from technical locals on the phones.

Also got the 2 for 1 card! Haven't used it yet though, been too busy on the net lol!

The phone is fine too, nothing wrong there apart from a few teething issues that were just minor glitches.

See ya later slingshot, orcon is kicking your butt!

That is amazing man. the cabinet's are being built so that everyone is 2km or less away from an exchange/cabinet. So you are more than 2km from your exchange but your still getting 18.5mbps sync, that is amazing.

I agree that their customer service is good.  But we've had more Internet downtime in the last month on their LLU network than in the previous 14 months.  I really hope this improves, as the speed is generally great.  But Orcon, please note that reliability is more important than speed to most of your customers.  My wife is starting to get annoyed...
