Hey chaps, wondered if you've encountered this before.

I just cottoned onto this issue the last couple of days when things stopped working at 935pm for no real apparent reason. Had a look at the logs and now I'm head scratching! Did have a quick look through the Frtiz settings to see if there was a reconnect every 12hr thing somewhere but did not see it.

Which ISP?

Fibre, xDSL?

Static or Dynamic IP?

Orcon Gigabit Fibre, very sticky dynamic IP.  Have just given the router a reboot, was interesting that there was no mention of IPv6 in the logs for internet (though it shows up after a power cycle re-connection).

Also with Orcon.

I have the same but on 100/20 fibre. Not all reconnections are shown explicitly but after a gap of say 3 days  the log says 6 messages since...

DHCP leases only for 12 hours??

I had a similar issue 3 or so years ago; the cause was my choice of internal subnet [192.168.0/24] clashing with the IP of the ISPs DHCP Server, and the router firmware would attempt to route DHCP renewals internally rather than externally.

A router factory reset fixed it because the default internal subnet is different.

YMMV, of course.

also make sure that under internet connections you have the maintain permanately box ticked.

Thanks for the tips, looking through the recent logs, there seems to be a DHCP issue, perhaps related to how I have setup IPv6.  Will fiddle with this and see how things go.

To my surprise, it seems Orcon has native IPv6 now?  Ticked the box a few days ago (with this being the only change) and it has fixed a few minor issues I've had with the internet.

Fritz logs still show a 12hrly IPv4 renewal but the connection seems more stable and the performance is now in line with it's expectations!
