Just going through my new Orcon line call logs and saw this.... (**** hiding actual number)

Dec 2008 02:54  New Zealand - Local Call  09-580-****  00:00:07

1) We were all asleep at this time - my little one hasnt mastered ninja flipping out of the cot yet to use the phone.
2) We dont recognise the number

Anyone else get this sort of thing appearing in their logs ? Just curious....

No to calling it, and we used to have Sky and a monitored alarm but not for a long time now.
I'll see if it appears again in the morning.....

Apperared again this morning at the exact same time - calling the number gets me something answering with beeps so suspect it is the alarm from when it was monitored years ago. Oh well, its not costing me anything so ill leave it be.

Your alarm was monitered by ADT?

The alarm is still comunicating just the software at ADT is ignoring it as you don't pay them.

This is very common practice as if it is a flat, or you move house they will see the disconnect of the phone line and hit up the new tenants for monitoring.

Wasnt ADT, but thats all I can remember :)

Weve swapped phone providers a couple of times, but still the same physical address and phone number which would explain why they havent said anything.

Cheers

i think you are with matrix security.... used to be former Detection alarm

I have cancelled that since i joined orcon, before that, every hour i got cut on it and it will automatically dial the following number... now i told them to totally take the telecommunication out from my alarm control box

if you look at the pattern on your log carefully, if you see this number happen several during the day, that means it will automatically cut your phone line and dial that number, so beware that if you are on a call, it may suddenly cut you line and it will dial the alarm line....

Nope, only does it at the same time every morning.
Cant remember the name of the company who monitored it, all I can remember is that they were useless (never asked for PIN/authorization for changes/alarms) and based out Pakuranga way. Bound to still have a sticker somewhere with their name on it... if I find it I might drop them a line otherwise its not an issue.

Sorry I recall that ADT use a 580 xxxx number for phone but an 0800 number for signals.
It is probably Matrix as they are across the road from ADT.

If it is sending more than once a day it is a fault.
A standard 24 hr test is normal.
It will also send a signal when you set and unset the alarm (most probably)
Or it will just send signals when you set it off.
