Hi, quick question as per title.

I want to replace the one they provided a few years ago with a TP-Link Archer AX50, which is only a router.

This is in an attempt to solve some wifi connectivity issues in parts of the house.

Thanks.

Router only required. The ONT is effectively the modem part. NB: often people will still refer to the router as being a modem, as that's what they understand.

People, as in most ISPs it would seem.

If the move to the more applicable term of "router" could be used, that'd be a good thing. Modem functionality is becoming a thing of the past as more fibre connections are replacing DSL ones.

Is a fibre ONT, aka the modem, a modulator/demodulator?

Yes, it is in essence exactly that.

Alright, thought so but needed to check.

Thanks.
