Anyone else having ISP problems with Slingshot tonight?  I've been getting downloads of 2-3 Mbps, that's when Speedtest can actually connect to the server.  Connecting to myslingshot fails, and other websites are slow or unavailable.

Switch to a cellular connection (Spark) and all is OK.  Tried resetting the router, and slingshot's network status says all OK - but in my experience, ISPs are very slow to acknowledge problems

Thanks for checking.  It's a weird one, my upload speed is unaffected but download max is consistently 3Mbps. Have reset ONT, changed to ISP-provided router, tried different DNS (although this one seems unlikely for these symptoms).  Also tried unplugging my LAN so only the device used for testing is connected.  Ping is normal on speedtest, but download painfully slow.  Starting to think there might be a damaged fibre.

Think again.

Open to ideas?  What else would kill download speed but not upload?

Yes, amongst other things mentioned above.

And tried phoning Slingshot then gave up and logged a fault via their website, no response yet

Latest result - via WiFi.  Wired connection gives same download and 400-500Mbps upload

What sort of speedtest results do you get with your phone via 5GHz WiFi through your fibre router?

My first ever AM radio network connection was with a 1MHz AM crystal(OA91) radio receiver.

Just tried and got 30Mbps down, and now getting 15Mbps on the laptop via WiFi

Will give the desktop a try on ethernet

What is your history of Slingshot download performance?

Your laptop download is slower than your phone.... got to be something wrong with your laptop.

Boot your laptop or desktop off a Ubuntu USB stick and do speed tests.

It's a gigabit connection and usually I see 700-800 each way at the router and 500 each way over ethernet.  WiFi usually 200 or so each way, including the laptop mentioned above

I know you're trying to help and I appreciate that, but you're barking up the wrong tree with laptop drivers etc.  I've tested this with five different devices over a mix of connections, and all are seeing greatly reduced speeds.  If the connection was OK, I wouldn't be seeing 3Mbps download over a Gigabit wired LAN.

No problem. At least we now know that you have had good speeds in the past.

I guess you really have to wait for help from Slingshot.

I hope you will report back on what they find.

I am very interested as I am about to connect with Slingshot in about a week.

To be fair to slingshot, my connection has been fast and reliable up to now, apart from provisioning problems when first connected and again when I changed to gigabit.
They have responded to my fault logging and claim to be investigating, I'll update when it's fixed
