Got a problem with both mine and my wife's phone not connecting to the Warehouse network where I live (Patearoa, Central Otago).  This has happened intermittently before but has been fixed by usually manually selecting the Warehouse network again or by turning airplane mode on/off and the service usually returns, but not this time.

I got on the phone to the Warehouse (2 degrees?) technical help desk for about 45 minutes and she got me to try swapping the sim cards to another phone, turning on airplane mode on and off and other things but this had no effect - still not working.  I was then told that they had no other reports of problems in my area and the problem was probably with the Sim cards on both phones (!?) and to get new sim cards.  How can this be that both sim cards would fail at the same time?

Anyway, after this I took the phones to our closest town (Ranfurly) about 20km away and they both worked fine.  I'm going to ring the help desk again but I think I'm going to be told to get new sim cards again. Anyone got any ideas what's wrong?  If our phones are working elsewhere as above, this must be a fault on their cell phone network; wouldn't this be the case?

Coverage there is via RCG site. What type of phone do you have and what is the actual problem? Does the phone just not attach to the network, or do you have no voice calling?

Thanks for your replies - our phones are Huawei Y9 prime, Redmi Note 3 and also tried sim card in Apple iphone 6s.

Phones are showing the Warehouse network but cannot ring/text out and ringing the phones via our landline just goes to voice message on both phones, but as I say everything works fine in our closest town.

Do any of your handsets support VoLTE?

Have you tried a 2degrees sim in the same location?

I suspect you are in a 4G / VoLTE coverage area only and the handsets you have do not support the technology that is required

Both phones have been working alright until up to a few days ago - does that mean that they have recently changed the network somehow to only work with VoLTE compatible phones?

Were the phones purchased from 2degrees?

No.

Is it possible to figure out what cell phone tower I'm using - presumably a different one than the one in Ranfurly as the phones are working OK from there?

Irrelevant for iPhones, although does cause issues with Androids.

OP is the iPhone on the latest version of iOS?

This sounds like a cell site fault
