I am Hutt city based on Orcon 900/500 plan. I am experiencing very slow speed both down and up. Speed test to ACS Data server 59mbps down and 5mbps up. Tested with Wired Ethernet.

Tried to access Orcon network status page and it won't load.

Any one else experiencing same?

I have all the usual stuff this end

Orcon gigabit in Porirua. 465/57 via wireless to ACS data.

Things seem to be ok for me.

Hi, I am in Waitarere on Sky which is also a Vocus network, getting 899/144 on ACSData and 938/471 to Vocus, so try another server

Porirua based ORCON customer; not noticing any speed decrease (haven't actually checked specifically), but AM seeing a large number of initial DNS lookups failing and needing to be retried.

Symptom = page doesn't load in Chrome the first time, but does after Chome auto-retries the attempt.

I have tried Inspire and xtreme with similar results.

I messaged Orcon and decided to do what I do when the internet is poop I wheeled myself around the the neighbourhood  and GST returns can just wait. I did notice a Chorus van down the road and a man with his head in the box so I guess that could answer it.

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

I suspect that the issue is my side of the ENT. Time to have a coffee and talk to Orcon *sigh* I will have to do all the things I have done already, all over again. Such is life. At least I still have an excuse to abandon doing the GST returns.

Have you tried other platforms to check if you are seeing speed fluctuations? fast.com which is Netflix's speedtest platform.
Sometimes could be the client - rare I know but I have seen cases of this as well as cases where its been on the speedtest.net server side against multiple servers.

Also have you eliminated things like router etc?

I tested via wired ethernet using a LAN port on the Orcon Netcomm router. I replaced the cable from the ONT to the router and tried different cables into the LAN port. Fast.com returns a bit better at 72mbps download. I have also disconnected all other devices including the Google Wifi Mesh to no avail. I don't have another router handy to test.

Not sure if you've had to speak with Orcon as of recent but I have to say since they re opened their helpdesk in NZ, Ive called them once or twice and it's been a great experience. When it was in the Philippines I wanted to stick needles in my eyeballs and absolutely dreaded the thought of calling them..

Also, im not to flash on the geography of wellington but I see on Chorus's site that there's an outage in the city centre that could potentially causing you some issue?

Not sure that is closing the loop as my issue also affects local traffic unless Orcon/Vocus has an undeclared issue here and are routing traffic via Australia

I have resolved the issue. I removed the Google Mesh again as a long shot then added them back one unit at a time and tested per Ethernet. On the third node connect the speed plummeted over Ethernet. Disconnected that node and speed was restored.

I have no idea why this behavior is occurring suddenly but all is well with the two nodes connected. The area furthest from the Wifi router now only has marginal connection without the third node. I guess I will have to look for a new solution which is frustrating as this has worked great until now.

Apologies for the hijack, Mike. @Jiriteach, what are you using to produce that table / do those tests every hour?
