I have a laptop with a 2degrees sim in it.

Whenever I connect to the network, I run a ping to Google.com.

This first packet of this ping always replies, but all packets there after are dropped until I shutdown the interface or restart the machine.

There is data on this sim with 40% connection quality.

Any idea why this is happenning?

Running on a Linux machine.

Thanks

is it just the ping thats the problem or does general browsing fail too?

General browsing fails too. It takes me to the 2degrees page saying "you can't connect right now"

But I have credit and sometimes it works.

Also, I am able to resolve DNS.

Cheers

Are you seeing the device have a solid connection to either 3G or 4G, or do you see it flapping from one to the other?

Ok I did some digging on the card, turns out it's not 4G capable. It's a 3G / HSPA+ card.

Is 3G/HSPA still supported?

Thanks

It is, although obviously your speed is going to be quite restricted compared to LTE. It also depends somewhat on the bands it supports as we move more 2100MHz sites to LTE due to the shift in demand so if it doesn't support UMTS on 900MHz you might struggle a bit.

That does say it supports UMTS 900, yes. Devices are not really my area so I don't have any tips specific for that device. Any other info you have that might be relevant? Location? Times? When you say 'there is data on this SIM' how did you verify? If it's Linux you probably have a PPP log somewhere, that would be handy too.
