7.29 firmware (again) broke the VPN so I (again) need to downgrade.

Found the FRITZ.Box_7530-07.21-recover.exe , but then I need to upgrade that to 7.28 and NOT 7.29 - which is the only version I can find on AVM web site...

Did a Google on it, but cant find "FRITZ.Box_7530-07.28.image" anywhere..

Does anyone know if there is an archive of firmware versions available somewhere - or perhaps someone has 7.28 or 7.27 for 7530?

Thanks!

faced a similar issue today (current fw 7.29 AND unfortunately also 7.28 throttled my vdsl downstream to 45 mbit, in 7.27 and before it was 63 mbit). couldn't find any other than the 7.29 and 7.21 recovery on avm ftp site.

also, using the built-in troubleshooting option "use previous dsl version" didn't fix it as i had already updated to 7.29 and the problem already existed in 7.28.

however, i was lucky with these two:

1) wayback machine > snapshots of the avm ftp site from april / may / august 2021
(search for the very specific url with "/recover" or "/fritz.os" subfolder; otherwise the wayback machine search will fail as they don't snapshot the whole avm ftp site each time they create a snapshot, but only certain subfolders)

https://web.archive.org/web/20210804151933/https://download.avm.de/fritzbox/fritzbox-7530/other/fritz.os/

2) ecosia search > dd1go (some ftp site with a copy of avm ftp site from april 2021) > "avm-mirror"

https://dd1go.de/file.php?dir=avm-mirror/fritzbox/

thank me later...

I thank you later :)

However... recovery program displays:

"Note: The device contains basic settings adapted for your Internet Service Provider (2degrees). Recovery could make the device inoperable on the 2degrees network. Please contact your ISP instead. Aborting recovery."

So I had everything working, when I decided it would a good time to upgrade to Ultimate Fiber. Which never went over 100Mbps. And 2degrees did not want to call Chorus to fix it, because "they charge us money". So they went into "troubleshooting" mode, which included such helpful actions as disconnecting and reconnecting power about 20 times (after waiting precisely 40 seconds), reverting to Factory settings, changing all Ethernet cables, changing PC I was measuring speeds from 3 times, and of course, my favorite, mandatory upgrade to latest firmware, because of course, that one must be the best and will fix everything.

Except that it broke VPN, broke 4G USB fail-over, messed up configuration in several places (including revering my WiFi network names, erasing all device specific configurations, etc) - and I STILL dont have my Ultimate speeds. I am of course being charged for them every day.

And now, this is just a cherry on top. Cant recover to a previous version of firmware, because 2degrees needs a "special" configuration, that must not be touched, or in case of IPv6, must not even be looked at.

I need to get rid of 2degrees router ASAP, and I think I need a new ISP. Any recommendations?

Thanks!

Your router and service is working totally fine... There is also no need for a whole new thread. This is a consumer grade router with IPv6 enforced and also I'm not going to support or encourage downgrading routers firmware on here due to security concerns (often firmware updates will come with security fixes and downgrading puts you at massive risk).

Therefore locked.
