Currently using FRITZ!Box 7530 and have switched to using VoWiFi from using a Cel-Fi cellphone booster. Want to extend the WiFi range and the obvious choice seems to be the 2Degree FRITZ!Box WiFi extender. Does anyone have any experience of using the extender and VoWiFi? Or are there suggestions for a better device?

Just for info, my reception is better with VoWiFi than the Cel-Fi. No more dropped calls or inbound that don't ring. 😀 I'm on ADSL.

I've got my folks setup with a few Fritz's in mesh (essentially the same as Fritzbox + Frizt wifi extender). VoWiFi works fine - I guess the only hiccup could be is if you roam access points (I haven't heard any problems from them about dropped calls). Hopefully 2deg has sorted their call handling from VoWiFi > VoLTE so that if you do drop off, the call won't completely drop. It worked fine for me on when my number was with VF at their house.

Interesting that you have had issues with the Cel-Fi. Setup correctly, these work very reliably. Were you using the older two box Cel-Fi or the single unit device?

It's really the roaming between access points I was interested in. 2Deg offer 30 day money back, so I might just try one anyway. Do you remember which model they provided?

It is the 2 unit Pro model, with external aerial bought 2016, optimised as best as possible at the time and made the home office usable. Until VoWiFi came along I didn't know if it was me or the other end that was having issues, but the difference with VoWiFi is marked. The Cel-Fi gain seemed fine and the boosted signal seemed to be fine, but probably 40% of voice calls would come and go and voice quality was poor. Download speeds are about half my ADSL2 speeds, but don't know if that's the Cel-Fi or just distance from the tower. Screenshot of the overview below, the full page seems a bit big to post here.

Now it would be really nice if 2Deg would put a nice 5G tower up the road, but I guess that's not likely to happen 🙁

I had setup mesh using a couple of 7490's with ethernet backhaul.

The Fritz repeater (3000) is now installed and working. VoWiFi works fine and transfers between access points with no hitches, signal and sound quality are pretty good so far. One happy chappy.

Big benefit in that I can now get a decent WiFi signal in the garage to work the Sonos sound bar - some things in life are important 😁.
