hey guys just a quick question for people with snap.

im looking at changing my isp as i am moving house and feel like a change.
I am currently with xnet who over thier naked adsl line offer you a voip line in thier fussion plan.
does snap have anything like this? also with thier prices im abit confused as to weather the price reflects the discount of having a phone line with them or is the discount added after.

also im in north auckland is anyone else up here and how do you find the conection or is there another better isp for this area.

Naked DSL from Snap does not include VoIP.

Check out this page for plain Naked DSL plans, and see this page for plans with both Internet and Phone.

I use Kiwilink VoIP with Snap.  Basically it is 2Talk just packaged up and branded a little differently.  I receive monthly bills by e-mail instead of needing to prepay as with 2Talk, so it is a bit more convenient.

I am in Auckland as well, and find that the speeds on Snap are excellent, no matter what time of the day or night.  There have been no outages in 5 months AFAIK.

I was alittle worried some months back about their speed, but it seems to have resolved itself.

Could you guys in Auckland on Snap do a tracert to 60.234.73.176

It's ones of the gamers.net.nz servers hosted in the Orcon data center if you're wondering.

Hmm that's high latency for local, most of the hops should be ~16ms.  Perhaps you don't have interleaving off on your connection?

Hmm also very high, cross Snap off the list for Auckland gamers I guess.

Here's the tracert on Telstraclear PDQ

The 5th hop never responds to pings or tracert's so I guess it's configured to not responds to ICMP traffic.  Doesn't affect normal traffic at all.

the higher pings are because snaps data center is in christchurch. They are planning on putting a auckland exchange in which would remove the higher latency

Don't have a time, it was mentioned half way through last year on another board, and it's still being thought about. The higer latency is deffinatly a pain in the but because I game on Australian servers alot.
