Hi all,
Couple of months ago I started noticing my internet speed getting slower and slower by the day... eventually it got really bad and it’s still is really bad... I’m supposed to have ADSL2+ and my download speed to chch or welly is 512kps... you can imagine my international...
anyway long story short, and after getting my port reset by orcon several times and orcon mucking me around for month and a half, I made a complaint and things started happening.. they started investigating and came down to the conclusion that my Linksys (ADSL2MUE) ADSL modem (which is a ADSL2+ modem) is the cause and I should get something that was made 6 months ago etc... I might add I’ve had that modem for years without any issues.
So I go and buy another Linksys (WAG200G)... anyway no improvement on my internet speed... I let orcon know, nothing happened after couple of emails etc... called in and made another little complaint, they rang me back and say Linksys is not compatible with their systems/equipment... and that I should get a dynalink...
now before I take this further and really have a go at them...
is this true, or are they just too lazy to configure their systems properly to work with all ADSL2+ modems... I mean we all know what happened with the Caller ID fiasco which got eventually solved (half assed solution I might add)...
any comments would be appreciated...
P.S. I don't like their customer service and IVR system... and I'm actually thinking of going back to telecom…
