Is it possible to choose a specific 022 number that is apparently not currently allocated?  If so, how does one go about this?  The local 2 Degrees shop said "No idea, call the 0800 number" but I've given up after more time on hold than I could bear.

Is the number in a range that is actually opened up so it can allocated to a active connection?

When I worked in care many moons ago we could give a new number if a customer wanted it (pick one from a list or search) - but as above not all numbers were available, for many different reasons. Give them a call when you can and it should be a quick process - not easy to reach them lately though…

Call a few numbers around the number you would like and see if any of them ring
