Hi Folks

Just got Orcon Purple Home plan hooked up, wanted to compare speeds with someone to see how mine compare. I'm in Auckland CBD.

I'm getting 4552kbs DL to Auckland, 1067kbs DL to New York.  I'm a bit of a rookie when it comes to internet, but I'm assuming that International speeds on an ADSL2+ connection would be much faster than this?

I thought I'd try Orcon since they have no term contracts, even though they said they couldn't give me ADSL2+.  But I'm thinking of going to a Telecom or Vodafone ADSL2+ plan if I can get international speeds maybe 3x (or more) faster than this.

Thanks for your help all :)

We're on the Orcon+ network, Papakura, South Auckland.

These speeds are pretty normal - Taken now at 3:50pm Saturday:

Thanks for your help, Its good to know what speeds people are getting on a weekend.

International Download speeds 6200kb+ would probably be more than enough for me. Unfortunately Orcon say I can't get Orcon+ despite being about 0.7km from the Airedale exchange.

If I can get similar speeds to you folks but on Telecom ADSL2+ I will be a happy man :)

Disappointed I can't get Orcon+ since the prices do seem a lot more reasonable than Telecom.

Just done now - Glenfield exchange 2km distance.

I was told I should expect about 10mbps but think theres something about my profile that needs to be reset to try those speeds :)
