I am currently on the Fusion Plan from xnet (unbundled with voip).

I want to change my ISP to Slingshot (or maybe another provider). How easy is this to do? What downtime will there be for Internet connection, and VOIP connection? Am I better to get my unbundeled broadband from Slingshot and my VOIp from another provider (2talk?)?

Thanks,

Donald

The unbundled NakedDSL is bad, Slingshot users have been told for the 3 to 6 months, that it's gong to be upgraded to have databanking and free off peak data,  but that has not happened.

Also check out the www.forums.slingshot.co.nz for information of speed issues,  ie even if you have a pay account with rapidshare you will only get 30kBps

Still I think Slingshot's good value.

Don't do it.

Even on the top of the range slingshot plan with full speed up and down, you only get 50k upspeed

Also, they will cut you off as soon as you blink, so your down time will be several days.

I don't know what's up with your line, nut I get heaps better service than that.

Nothing wrong with my line. I came from Telecom and performance there was far better. If there was something wrong with my line it would affect down speed, but that is semi-normal.

Slingshot performance isn't what I'd call stunning.

slingshot is ok as long as you dont want to use torrents or rapidshare they slow you down at peak times  till its a  waste of time trying , i left them for that reason.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

If you want to do any form of downloading (including streaming) during the afternoon or evening you're better off elsewhere.

imo, all they're good for is the freeleech hours, and general web browsing (except for large images, which take ages to load.)
