I'm unable to receive any pictures sent to me by SMS, the attachments stays stuck on "downloading"

I've tried when on Wi-Fi and on Mobile data.

I've tested with different phones but still no luck.

I've raised as an issue with 2Degrees but wondered if anyone else has seen this issue?

Is your phone a dual sim one? I have not been able to get or send MMS on one sim of mine since forever and apparently there are APN settings I need to check, but its not important enough for me to bother as MMS is now dead.

Pictures via SMS? I assume you mean MMS, since I haven't seen an EMS picture since about 2006. Do you have the correct settings?

APN - mms

MMSC - http://mms.2degreesmobile.net.nz:48090

MMS Proxy - 118.148.1.118:8080

Max message size - 307200

I don't have the :8080 on the proxy, will try adding that and moving SIM to SIM slot 1

Little bit off topic if you can enable RCS under message settings

Have tries that as well but still can't download attachments. Had the same issue with another phone too. Headscratcher.

Are you trying to download a MMS that has now expired? Over 72 hours old

Testing with one sent to me today

So far:

Moved SIM to position 1

Checked APN settings

Checked RCS is on

Restarted phone

Checked only using mobile data

Still fails. No clue as to why.

@Ramjet99 First off what is the make / model of handset and have you reset the APN settings?

RCS & MMS are 2 different services but do the same thing

Have you tried your SIM card in another handset and further to this can you send a MMS / PXT from your mobile number to your mobile number?

@Ramjet99 If you are blocked from sending then you will be blocked from receiving

@Ramjet99 MMS / PXT will not work over Wi-Fi it has to use mobile data but RCS will work over mobile data & Wi-Fi

2Degrees account manager says MMS will still come through, and they do, just not for everyone.

I'm not having a lot of luck resolving this with them so thought I'd turn to the better informed Geekzone crew.

So then if some come thru it can't be a setting on the APN setup or none would come thru

FWIW got account manager to remove the (supposedly outgoing only) MMS block and now working fine.

No, the MMS bar blocks incoming too. It works at the APN and URL levels. If you have the bar on, you can't activate the MMS APN at all, nor can you hit the URL if you try to send or receive MMS over the normal internet APN.
