I am quite surprised to see this type of suggestion in this day and age. How have they managed to find a way to migrate pins and greetings, but not a way to download or email voicemail files?

EEDIT: For those not aware, 2D are upgrading to a new voicemail platform on 22nd Oct, so old, saved voicemails will not be migrated and will be lost if not saved and will remain accessible until end of Oct 2024 only.

"How have they managed to find a way to migrate pins and greetings, but not a way to download or email voicemail files? "

Because it won't be in the scope of the project due to the budget,

They will have worked out how many long term messages there are, and they will be spread over 1000s of users, so it will be a case of "if you want it save it yourself"

But TBH, is mobile voicemail still a thing?

Yes voicemail is still a thing, people will then ignore it and say you should have texted them when they didn't answer. Its still a thing because telcos make it so hard to totally opt out of it, acting like providing it is a service that people want this side of 2010 when everyone had a device that could send a text message instead.

I wish voicemail would go away, it's only boomers who use it and I find it more hassle than its worth. If it's important, just text or email me and I will follow up as soon as I read the message.

Yeah you say that but when I gave the presentation to the Technology department I started with "And I haven't got a screenshot for voicemail because I'm not 50 yet" but later got to "<Squints at laptop, mumbles>Bugger, can't read my own note here ... maybe I should start using voicemail..."

I don't like giving out my email address in my voicemail greeting because it gives nuisance callers another potential point of contact. So my voicemail greeting says "please email me if you have my address, otherwise leave a message here". The result is that I very rarely get any voicemails.

They can send a text. They have your number obviously since they have called you.

When I had my website up, I just gave that as a method of contact but it was a hassle keeping it running for it doing nothing else.
