Hello,

I have received my Orbi modem from 2degrees and attempted to set it up while my current ISP is still Spark, but I have not been successful in completing the setup. It seems to always stop at a certain point during the process. Is there any way I can use this modem while still connected with Spark?

Yes, by configuring it correctly, PPPoE with vlan id = 10 on WAN.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Thank you. To confirm, will I only be able to use the modem without setting up the VLAN ID once my ISP is switched to 2degrees? Currently, I do not have any idea on how to set up the VLAN ID.

2Degress also use vlan id = 10. Ex MyRepublic customers were migrated to 2Degrees without tagging.

I am wondering why I am unable to set up the 2degrees Orbi Wi-Fi modem, while the Spark Smart modem works and provides an internet connection without issues. When I plug in the Orbi modem, the app indicates there is no internet connection. Thank you.

As I stated the Orbi needs correct config. 2Degrees use IPoE/DHCP client on WAN, Spark use PPPoE. Unless you configure the Orbi with PPPoE and vlan id = 10 it will NEVER connect to Spark.

PPPoE also requires a username and password. username: user@spark.co.nz password: abc123
