Just to reiterate, how impatient I am… Two months is up at the end of the month.
NZComms said they would be out by now. I know, I know, it’s been said before. But come on, when you go on for this long then you suddenly say "Two Months" you expect Two months... Don’t you?

Basically I'm paying way too much now, just so I can wait till they start, else I might as well go to Telecom. I am not happy with Vodafone anymore.

A frustration shared by all. Im keen to know if they've chosen their new brand name yet. Some think it might be Two Degrees

I don't see how standard calls/texts can be much cheaper with NZ Comms when the interconnection fees Telecom and Vodafone charge are so high.

The only benefits they could offer is calls/texts within their own network and possibly cheaper data rates.

It would be extremely hypocritical to offer cheaper on-net calling (which is the pretty much the norm for any new entrants entering existing markets) when they've been so critical of Vodafone and Telecom for doing this.

Better coverage would be a first for me, followed by decent speech quality, something the incumbent fails miserably at here. I also have a real aversion to buying bundles of rounded-up minutes and texts and then either having wastage or overage. (I have FAX-Email solution now thanks to 2talk so the voda is officially "pendingrelease")

I have my (now) primary phone with Telecom and have had an excelent run with it though NZC appear to have very good coverage from those few times I've done a manual network serach.

Ok lets take your points

1. Better coverage - Where are you that the coverage is so bad with Telecom or Vodafone.

2. By better coverage do you mean 2g or 3g

3. Voice quality.. My normal vodaone line is way better than my land line for speech so how do you qualify that

Personally i'm after a multi play deal. Some one who can provide

* Land line
* Mobile x 2
* unlimited broadband

now I'll let the rest of you guest how much i'm willing to pay, and let me know what you think that package is worth..

PS Think UK numbers.

PPS. A couple of broadband based IPTV channels for free would also be appreciated.

many areas of Wellington has black spots of Vodafone coverage, by black spots I mean no service whatsoever. in all these areas bar one my Telecom mobile will function and it's a very poor RF performing model, Okta Touch.

Both though I would anticipate the new build will be 3G 900MHz now,
2100 is very poor at building penetration and even in good coverage areas the mobile seems to still switch to GPRS/2g an awful lot.

That doesn't happen to be a resold landline by Vodafone by any chance? We have a Telecom line in the house and a "Vodafone" line and the speech quality on the Vodafone line is utterly terrible compared to the telecom line and worse than the Vodafone GSM mobile.. like a too-quiet G729 voip call.

I notice quite a shrill sound and this whitenoise sound that sounds like a wave crashing into a beach but did not hear any effects of that while in Australia, The clarity of the calls over there was like cleaning the dust from the earpeice and walking away from the beach.

I notice it more just after using VoIP in the Nokia admittedly..
I have a few recordings of the effect if anyone is really that interested. Probably intentional AGC or something but it sounds quite strange to me.

Agreed but this might be hard for anyone asides the major players to provide! bring on more MNVO deals like Telecom's telstra deal or the new one launched today.
