I have a Orcon DSL connection in Feidling, and went to speedtest.net and got these crazy speed results. One of them being 25Mbps with a LA Server.

These speeds are obviously incorrect, as Im on a ADSL plan not ADSL2.

My line sync is 8196Kbps Down Stream, and 968Kbps Up Stream.

Yeah... their old speed test was far from accurate, but the new one seems to be even worse.  It appears to scale down the size of the download file (500 kB in my case) based on the magnitude of the latency that it calculates (which it does inaccurately).  I suspect the code that calculates the rate is also flawed, but then Flash probably doesn't offer sufficient granularity to be more accurate.  Of course, an international test is likely to be more accurate during peak hours, when 500 kB doesn't seem so small to Orcon's congested international pipes.

The servers that speedtest.net uses are good (unlike dslreports.com speed tests), but the method of measurement leaves a lot to be desired.  Bit of a shame really, as it's not exactly rocket science.
