Hmm. I doubt that nzcomms can offer new zealanders something considerably better than vodafone and telecom

Drat, I'm still holding out hope for a launch, or at least a fire-sale!

Well that's that then.

Looks like we won't be seeing decent competition for a very long time. Just how Vodafone and Telecom like it.

They are still building out cellsites at a hectic pace here in the Hutt Valley and have coverage up to Upper Hutt plus Pukerua Bay. They are keeping a low profile until the Commerce Commission sort out the issues of MTR's and roaming. I am confident they will launch later this year.

Even if they have no coverage by roaming outside of auckland they would still be a perfectly viable choice.

As it is, city users are subsidizing the rural ones with their hard to get to and low use sites on hills in the middle of nowhere. If NZC was to just sell to the cities at a reasonable price then it would clearly be better, and none of the kiwishare crap that makes us citydwellers subsidize the people in the middle of nowhere like happens with landlines.

IMO a decent city only plan from them could be the final nail in the coffin for landlines for people in cities, unlike vodafones crippled gsm landline offerings that are not mobile.

It seems Vodafone and Telecoms  manipulation of the Commerce Commission investigation has backfired as NZ Comms has said it will be launching as per it's timetable. Just shows what dirty tricks these corporate  incumbents get up to to delay competition in the marketplace.
