I think theres something wrong with the browser cache.. Las Vegas cant be 52Mb/s. A very good ADSL2+ connection in NZ would be something like 19Mb/s for local. A good overseas speedtest might be say like my result in my signature say 6 or 7 Mb/s

Are you residential or business? Do you know if theres any special about your exchange or cabinet maybe giving these results?

What browser you using? Try a different one and see what results you get

peejayw, this thread is turning into a big gloat thread. Why don't you answer some of the questions Damager asked you. Otherwise this is pointless.

Sory forgot to reply to that but am not gloating, merely curious about these speeds, here are the answers to the questions.............

Its a residential connection, there is nothing special about the exchange other than its only ADSL and I have tried IE FF and Chrome, all give similair results.
Thanks.

When you create your post, click on the figure of the tree and add the link there.

My thought's too :-)

So peejayw, is your connection residential or commercial, is it adsl or fibre or cable? is it wireless?, and your location, do you know if your cabinet has had recent changes to it? Are you in Christchurch, if so, are you by the university etc etc

Have you downloaded any files from sites etc to see what speed you get?

oops you have posted i see :-)

Tried the below speedtest also?

Hi, thanks for that, tried the site you suggested, it gave the following result,

Download 58975 kbps
Upload 723 kbps

I am not in Christchurch.
Any suggestions on where to download a file to further check the speed?
Thanks.

Ok so not in Christchurch, so whereabouts then? Maybe the Chorus website has some clues about your cabinet.

Any other pc's in the house eg, laptops,, what are the results on those.

Can you post your modem details?

eg, downstream and upstream information, attentuation etc.

Download the avg free exe from avg.com and take a screenshot of the download box showing the speed of your download.

On ADSL that just isn't technically possible for 2 reasons. Firstly, ADSL2+ technology caps at around 24mbit. Secondly, TCP Windowing would prevent such high download speeds with that kind of upload speed.

I'm guessing it is some kind of bug or caching error.

I concur, i noted at the start there must be some sort of local caching error providing spurious results.

Hi peejayw,

Can you provide some screenshots of you downloading any files from the web? eg as i mentioned..

download something like the avg exe from avg.com or something from a microsoft server.

Please provide some more information so we can help identify your correct speeds. As i noted earlier, please provide the data from your modem, as this will provide your actual downstream and synch speeds.

if you have trouble doing this, google your modem model number and find a manual or let us know so we can give you some instructions.

at the end of the day, you're better off knowing what your actual line speed is .. especially when it comes to resolving line speed issues, performance etc.

let us know what you location is also, other users may be in the same area and perhaps they can also give some feedback.

we're here to help :)
