Hello

Trying to sign up to broadband and my address isn't recognised by the website, however, neighbours' addresses come up fine and are able to receive wireless BB options.

The CSR wasn't too helpful other than saying BB services can't be delivered. Where the issue actually lies is the address not being recognised, as you would otherwise get a message saying no services can be delivered to this address.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Generally it's because the site has either coverage or capacity issues that prevent the delivery of services.  You mention you have checked a neighbour (I assume they are physically near and 2km down the road ;-)) - have you tried the neigbour on the other side? Does that show up?  It could be you are on the edge of coverage/capacity perhaps.

It may of course be a 'records' issue...

Any comment made here is my own and should not be taken as that of my employer.

The issue is more so the address not being recognised, I get the following message:

If it recognised my address and there weren't any available service, I should get the following message:

Coverage and download speeds are excellent where I am, and I'd be 100% using the same serving cell as the neighbour so it's more an issue with the physical address not being recognised with a records issue.

sigh, Starlink isn't the be-all and end-all - there are also local WISPs. Sure, Starlink may have faster download speeds, but wireless BB is going to have the same, if not better, latency and for $60/month it seems fairly reasonable.

Is this a new build or a recent sub division? More so does it actually have a valid New Zealand Post address?

This is the only way I can think of how this scenario comes up (knowing how problematic this was when I was wearing One NZ's hat).

Does the address show up for other ISPs? Try Spark or One NZ and see if address shows up for them.

Extending on this, if it's rural, then completing the steps at https://www.nzpost.co.nz/personal/receiving/rural-delivery will generally fix address searches (most of the address databases use NZ Post's), if not rural then not sure, but probably check if NZ Post's address search works and if not contact them.

Remember 15+ years ago, getting confused as companies started using the NZ Post database more and more (when the new postcodes came out), and several places had trouble with the home address, parents had never done the form.

nah, doesn’t show up with any ISP. Spark mentioned I’d need to submit a rates bill to have the address recognised

Yeah, address isn’t showing up on the rural address finder so will look into applying for that - thanks for the heads up!

Likely requires an address validation as mentioned by others. Often we'll just ask for rates or LOT & DP, picture of mailbox to pass on to the network provider's address management team. They're probably just passing the same info onto CoreLogic, which then usually resolves missing addresses in a bunch of places and can confirm capacity for products.
