Hello all,

Just noticed that over the past 24hrs I have had 3 outages that lasted a few minutes. Anyone else having issues like that? Just want to assess if I need to look at my gear or this is a wider issue.

(get same behaviour to 8.8.8.8 and others)

Thanks!

Not sure its the exact same, but i get constant errors for my DNS servers (Cloudflare) not being reachable on Pihole for short blips. This has been happening a while though... I'll have to get the error logs later, as I've cleared them.

Based in Auckland CBD.

As I said, this happens cloudflare and google and any website and its not DNS related.

Well you didn't actually say it wasn't DNS, and both your examples 8.8.8.8 & 1.1.1.1 are DNS servers, so fairly reasonable to make a linkage.

Either way, all other traffic is fine, have only noticed small issues to DNS, and given no-one else is reporting issues, I'm guessing not widespread.

This is related to fibre damage.

11am 21st September - Cable stuck by an excavator which triggered some reconvergence of network paths, causing some subscribers to switch to the backup BNG - requires 5-10min for the RGW to re-auth.

1am 22nd September - Network change to manually move subscribers back to the primary BNG.

1pm 22nd September - Core links flap again - suspected due to tech's inspecting the cable.

Fibre overlay work to remedy the damaged cable was carried out last night 12am-3am 23rd September.

Might have also seen an outage around 5.15am this morning as subscribers were moved back to their primary BNG.

@Cxf, thanks heaps! You rock! That was what I needed and yes, 5:22AM today. And I get that these things happen and that they are annoying to all of us. Just needed to know if this was internal to me or my connection or more generic (and therefore not my problem), which you have answered. THANKS!!!
